Chinese OEM Newman has unveiled a new Windows CE 5.0 device, designed to sit between a Portable Media Player and micro web browser. The MINI ALL VX1000 is stylistically closer to a handheld games console than a device you would traditionally associate with Windows CE 5.0, but with OEM's like ClearView - reported here on HPC:Factor over the last couple of months - and now Newman trying to push Windows CE into a niche of the PMP market, it is clear that the gloves are off when it comes to platform standardisation in the PMP universe. The VX1000 boasts integrated SKYPE support, along with MSN Messenger and QQ Messenger through an integrated 802.11b adapter. The marketing states the device as capable of "3D, Flash and simulator NES games support", a curious publicity choice in addition to Microsoft Office editing and extended Audio/Video capabilities which include support for the h.264 codec. No details have yet emerged on availability or pricing. View: VX1000 (Large) View: MINI ALL VX1000 (PMP Today) Posted on 31 May 2007 at 18:09By Chris Tilley (C:Amie)
