Today HPC:Factor proudly announces the launch of the all new version of the most visited and respected Handheld PC site available.

HPC:Factor has never been offline for any significant downtime or maintenance in since it’s initial launch on March 7, 2003. With the increase in site traffic – nearly 4 million visitors per month – it became increasingly clear that a major overhaul of the site was in order.

In June, 2005, the owners of HPC:Factor began researching and coding what would be the most ambitious project yet in the history of the site. Today, the hard work is shown the public for the first time.

HPC:Factor is completely new in design and function but maintains a familiar feel for users. All of the underlying code of the site has been updated with an emphasis on performance, security and functionality. Supplementing this rework is the all new Windows Server and SQL engine which the site is built on. Much of the server work for HPC:Factor is done by senior technical administrator John Rubier.

The single biggest improvement for users and visitors of HPC:Factor is speed. With the next generation server and software in place, HPC:Factor is significantly faster which will make the site all-the-more user friendly, especially for those on dial up access.

“The goal of HPC:Factor has always been to be a community centre for the Handheld PC users of the world.” Chris Tilley, co-owner and editor of HPC:Factor states. “The improvements in version 2.0 will continue that tradition by making the site faster, more clearly laid out and easier to use.”

“It is clear that the Handheld PC form factor is not dead.” States Clinton Fitch, co-owner and editor of HPC:Factor. “We continue to see record numbers visit the site each day and it is only appropriate that we release this new-and-improved version to the benefit of those who support our site. Chris (Tilley) has done yeoman’s work in preparing the new site and his true genius shows in the site. Technically and aesthetically it is beautiful.”
