Is it the end of the road for Pocket Streets?

The 2007 editions of Streets & Trips (North America) and AutoRoute (Europe) no longer include a free copy of Pocket Streets 2007. Actually, there is absolutely no mention of a 2007 version of Pocket Streets anywhere on the Microsoft website. Is this the end of Pocket Streets? Rumour has it that Pocket Streets 2005 & 2006 will continue to read maps created using Streets & Trips 2007, but one has to wonder how much longer these maps will be compatible; particularly in the light of mobile support for Microsoft Money being dropped in the latest international set of product releases.

Handheld PC owners are well aware that Microsoft discontinued Pocket Streets support for their platform back in 2002, but now it appears that with PS 2007, the end of the road is near for Pocket PC/Smartphone support.

Thus far, there has been no formal announcement from Microsoft about the future of Pocket Streets, but its noticeable exclusion from the latest versions of Streets & Trips/AutoRoute and from their website, paints a telling picture.
