We asked SoftMaker to comment on their plans for releasing the recently announced additions to SoftMaker Office - DataMaker, BasicMaker and Presentations - on the Windows CE / Handheld PC platform.

The current product development road-map at SoftMaker has efforts focusing specifically on providing competition to Microsoft Office and establishing a presence on the mainstream Windows platform. According to SoftMaker, although they do not have, or are unwilling to offer much information on their long-term strategy. The principal factor in making the decision as to whether to spend time porting to any platform, including Windows CE, is one of interest and a show of demand from the user base.

At this stage in the as yet unknown road-map. The chance of seeing a port to Windows CE / Handheld PC is as strong as for any of the other platforms SoftMaker currently support.
