pocketables.net have published some preliminary material on a new device prototype from the well known music player company iriver which has all the hallmarks of a true-blue Handheld PC.

The new iriver Wing device clearly features a clamshell form factor, with sleeks modern looks, modern equipment and is stated to feature Windows CE as its release operating system.

The Wing's specifications that have emerged from CES are:
  • 4-inch TFT touch screen (800 x 480)
  • Windows CE Pro OS
  • 4GB, 8GB, 16GB NAND Flash + microSD card slot
  • Folding, portable design with full QWERTY keyboard
  • Wi-Fi and VoIP
  • Web browser, messenger, web mail, text viewer, voice recorder
  • multimedia: audio (MP3, WMA, OGG)
  • video (MPEG4-SP, WMV9 @ 30fps), photo (JPG, BMP, GIF)
  • 2-megapixel camera
  • Optional: WiBro, DMB, DVB-H, ISDB-T
Pocketables have provided a small number of photos of the Wing on show at CES, however the device can clearly be seen to not be displaying Windows CE - although it may be using a Remote Desktop Connection from Windows CE across to a Windows XP system.
