Windows CE Pegasus: 24 years and counting

Handheld PC News

Posted 4 years ago | News | Chris Tilley 6 comments

It is that time of year again here at HPC:Factor. The inexorable creep of time means that today, Windows CE Pegasus - better known as Windows CE 1.0 - has reached the milestone of its 24th birthday. I think that for the American members of our community, this now means that Windows CE can hire a car? Perhaps one with Windows CE for Automotive on board?

24 years later, although relatively quiet, there is still a community of lovers of those old devices right here, trying to preserve the memory (and legacy) of those former bastions of our bags and pockets. I have always been and remain humbled by the fact that people keep coming to HPC:Factor. So keep sharing your tips, tricks, discoveries and stories and with any luck (2020 permitting) we will all be around to see Windows CE make its quarter of a century during 2021!

It does make me feel a little sad, because it is virtually all we have to post about in the news section these days :(

Hello guys, I am new here and I just got my Casio A-11 from storage and I am walking memory lane.. Reminisce and now I hold it again feels nostalgic. Windows CE 1.0 alarms do work while Windows CE 2.11 and above don't; half of the time. I will try and find my old HPC apps and PocketPC that I have during the IRC days. Gawd I miss those folks from EU.
