Microsoft Research have recently released an incremental update to the acclaimed Portrait communications application.
Portrait version 2.2 was the first release of Portrait to include fixes to overcome the changes made in the MSN Messenger security lock-down late least year. Version 2.21 adds additional support for a number of camera devices, including the HP Photosmart Mobile Camera. Although the changes are mostly orientated around Pocket PC hardware the Handheld PC build has been updated as well.

Portrait is a prototype application developed by Microsoft research. It crucially allows you to connect to the .net Messenger (MSN / Windows Messenger), as well as ILS and SIP. Best of all it's free.
Portrait is available for the PC as well as HPC2000 and the Pocket PC platform.
