Stub DLL's in GAPI distribution a one-off

The inclusion of Pocket PC Stub DLL's, or "dummy" library files in the latest release of WinCESoft's GAPI has taken some members of the Windows CE community by surprise, not least because of it's bold statement towards supporting hacked program and application files.

The 3.02 release of GAPI, finally heralds the game runtime's long desired support for running under the Nyditot screen virtualisation and redimensioning system. The move allows Handheld PC users running clamshell native mode screen (HVGA at 640x240) to properly display native mode Pocket PC applications (QVGA at 240x320) without losing either the bottom or top quarter of the application.

The inclusion of the stub DLL's has caused concern both for community pundits, and for the hacking fraternity - al be it for differing reasons. When asked about the inclusion of the Stub DLL's in the latest GAPI release, WinCESoft expressed that the inclusion of the dummy library files was a one-off to the 3.02 release, and would not be carried forward into future revisions, making it a proof of concept release and one that makes it a little easier for inexperienced users to get started with gaming on the H/PC.
GAPI 3.02 can be downloaded for free from the WinCESoft webiste, and is available for all StrongARM, ARM and XScale processors running HPC2000 or higher.
