After some fussing and fuming on the part of legacy developers and OEM's, Microsoft have restored the availability of the free Integrated Development Environment (IDE) eVC++ for CE .net.

This will be a welcomed move for casual developers and OEM's who still make use of Windows CE .net in a production environment some 7 years after its initial release.

eVC++ allows developers to program in C++ for Windows CE .net devices without the need of the expensive Microsoft Visual Studio 2002 or higher IDE application.

HPC:Factor can report that the 2009 release of eVC++ is the original RTM version of eVC++ 4.0 without any Service Packs having been applied - a process known as slipstreaming.

The download is over 100MB smaller than the original release version due to the removal of the Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 installer from the binary. We strongly recommend that all users install Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP3 before installing eVC++ 4.0 on their systems.
