MSN Messenger will stop working…

Handheld PC News

Microsoft have recently taken actions to clamp down on the number of third party clients connecting to the Messenger Network. As part of their attempt to do this, Microsoft will disabling support for messenger older messenger clients. Only 4.7.2000, 5.0 and 6.0 will be active.

With the exception of Windows 95 users, this isn't a problem. However for Windows CE based mobile devices, this is a big problem. There are no guarantee that Ruksun Messenger Force will continue to work. There is also the chance that Microsoft Portrait may soon be disabled.

Microsoft have as yet not released updates for Pocket PC and CE 4 messenger clients, and will be doing so through the Hardware manufacturers in due course.

We have sent requests to both Ruksun and the MS Portrait team on how this will affect users. As soon as we hear anything, we'll let you know.
