Microsoft Logo Support: End of an era
Handheld PC users still synchronising against Windows 98, 98 Second Edition or Millennium Edition today find themselves another step further back into the shadows. After a three year stay of execution, Microsoft have finally terminated Windows 9x support. The move in fact brings to a close the life of all Windows 4.x releases.

In practice this means that no more security updates will be written for the affected versions, along with a suspension of all telephone support services. The BBC reports that the move will affect upwards of 70 million remaining daily users of the operating systems.

HPC:Factor will continue to maintain and provide access to our Windows 98 and Millennium patching guides through the support section for an indefinite length of time, and advise that any remaining Windows 9x user follow them as soon as possible.
