Description

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!

ScummVM supports many adventure games, including LucasArts SCUMM games (such as Monkey Island 1-3, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, ...), many of Sierra's AGI and SCI games (such as King's Quest 1-6, Space Quest 1-5, ...), Discworld 1 and 2, Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2, Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, Broken Sword 1 and 2, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Gobliiins 1-3, The Legend of Kyrandia 1-3, many of Humongous Entertainment's children's SCUMM games (including Freddi Fish and Putt Putt games) and many more.

Crashes with illegal operation on 620LX (SH3 Win CE 2.0).

Runs on Jornada 820 (StrongARM Win CE 2.11), but I can't figure out how to exit the program: the mouse cursor disappears if it leaves the game window and you can't click the icons at the bottom of the screen. Alt-Enter does not capture/release mouse; none of the keys mentioned in the readme will get you out. I think this scummvm just needs a touchscreen.

ScummVM doesn’t work on 2.0. But thanks for testing. Still worth knowing for sure.

I remember having a similar issue exiting the program on my device. I don’t remember what I did. When I have a chance, I’ll retest and let you know.

Make sure to add your testing data in the compatibility tab if it’s no trouble. That way we can keep track which programs work and don’t.

@hassilon I did some checking. If you can figure out how to quit the game natively within the game, that should let you go back to scummvm.
Also, cursor aside, you should just be able to remap a bunch of keys/actions too. Including mapping a key to be "Quit" See if that works?

In scumm 0.7.1:

Key mapping seems to be royally screwed up: nothing I map works.

Parsing the scummvm.ini is also borked: scummvm creates it but then can't read the file, making you click 10+ error popups. Then it dies with an "illegal operation" and won't start again until you hit reset.

In scumm 0.6.8:

More keys work; alt-X will quit. I tried tentacle and monkey 2 and both were extremely slow. Even though you can clean-ish-ly exit, scummvm might not start again until after a reset.

You can get fullscreen on the J820 if you run games from the command line (cmd):

scummvm -g 2x tentacle

No idea if anything can be done to speed things up: about the same slowness both fullscreen and 320x240.

It looks like it was a bug

I’m afraid to recommend anything higher than 0.7.1 since those are more pocketpc oriented and it means it’s even more difficult to get running on 2.11.

I also get an error on my Jornada 680 with WinCE Professional. Will this ever get fixed?

No it won’t get fixed unfortunately. Windows CE support was dropped a few years back
There was someone who ported a newer version but never released it. (But that was for ARM processors) and I didn’t have luck getting them to release it

Also what error message are you getting ?

In the meantime I’d try the following versions and see which works best for you.
