Description

* Introduction

This is for displaying Japanese on English version WindowsCE V2.0.
A tool to create TrueType fonts.

The English version of WindowsCE V2.0 uses TrueType fonts to display Japanese.
However, a normal outline font takes up a lot of memory.
Large or small fonts may be difficult to read or take time to develop.
I will.

MKTTF uses embedded bitmap in TrueType fonts to create raster graphics.
You can create a font and obtain a highly visible display environment with a small amount of memory.
You can also create a fixed pitch font, so use fixed pitch fonts such as KCTRL.
You can also use apps that require pitch fonts.

Furthermore, even fonts with a number of dots for which FontX2 fonts are not available can be used automatically.
Since alternative font information is dynamically created, 8x8 (6 points) to 24x24 (18
It covers all fonts up to point). (range of alternative fonts)
The box can be specified as an option)

MKTTF is a raster font in the FontX2 format, which is common in Japan.
Converts the font to a TrueType font. For this purpose, convert the FontX2 font in advance.
You need to prepare a font in the FontX2 format.

1. Creating a font description file

A font description file is a file that specifies which FontX2 fonts to use to create a TrueType file.
A file that describes how to create a font.

First, enter the full-width font file name and half-width font file name of the input FontX2 font.
Create a text file with comma-separated list of client file names.
Please specify fonts with the same height for both.

example)
c:\samples\font\k14.fnt,c:\samples\font\7x14rk.fnt

In the above, the first half is full-width font and the second half is half-width font.
Please do not use white or other colors.

If you want to specify multiple fonts, add them in the same way to the next line.

example)
c:\samples\font\k14.fnt,c:\samples\font\7x14rk.fnt
c:\samples\font\jiskan16.fnt,c:\samples\font\8x16rk.fnt

At this time, make sure that the smaller font size is on the previous line.

As a sample, there is a font called KANAME.IN that contains only the Kanamemachi font.
We have prepared a description file for you to use as a reference.

2. Generate font file

Once the font description file is created, generate a TTF file. Parameters
Start the mkttf.exe program by specifying the font description file in the

It is OK if the output looks like the above.
Contents may vary depending on the font.

In addition, below [Font substitution] above, 8x8 to 11x11, 13x13 to 24x24
When displaying fonts, use 12x12 dot fonts by enlarging/reducing them.

When mkttf.exe is executed, the specified font is written in the current directory.
TrueType font file with extension .TTF is the base name of the specified file.
It will be created.
(In the above example, KANAME.TTF will be created)
