MonIRC 1.1.1

Freeware
MonIRC is an IRC client - English Language Version
You must be registered and logged into HPC:Factor in order to contribute to the SCL.

Description

This software contains the basis for communicating with the whole world on the international servers of the global web.

Features:
- English Language User Interface
- IRC protocol support;
- Connection to unencrypted servers;
- Possibility of using a password;
- Use of the WinSock CE 2.x library to connect;
- Commands preceded by a slash "/" (list provided below);
- PING is fully implemented.
- Timestamps are displayed in 12H format, in stead of the standard European 24H format.

Bugs:
- There are no known bugs, except that some system messages that arrive in a rush may be displayed as unformatted plain text;
- Few tests have been done on this application so far, although it works well.

Gaps:
- Due to the platform used, total absence of SSL/TLS encryption;
- Conversations in private message not implemented at all, messages will appear in unformatted text;
- Totally absent tabs, there is only one instance, and one room at a time;
- Lack of support for some commands (AFK, ACTION, etc.);
- Lack of formatting of certain system messages;
- Slightly "clinical" and not very customizable interface;
- List of connected members, which I voluntarily did not implement, to avoid saturating the memory of the H/PC.

Nevertheless, this client allows you to connect to IRC servers thanks to your H/PC connected to the Internet/Intranet by PCMCIA, serial, or IrDA, via telephone line, or Ethernet.

... It depends.

Use :
##################################################
# How to use Monokeros IRC for Windows CE 2.00 : #
##################################################

First, please type in the nickname that will be used for the
connection. You can choose whatever nickname you want, as long
as it's not already used, and that it doesn't include odd
characters (like !, :, ?, etc.). Next, you have to select a
server of your choice specified in the list, and the IRC port
that will be used for the connection. Default is 6667.

Then please check the server name is valid, and that you are
already connected to a network. Click on "Connect", it might
take a few seconds.

If everything's okay, you are now connected to the remote
server. Please read and follow their instructions displayed
inside the main window. It may be important to know, for
instance, if the connection is correctly done, and what room
to join, as well as if your nickname is valid.
An already taken nickname will lead to a disconnection, for
instance.

Once connected, you can send messages only when you join a
room. A room is a sort of subcategory to a main server where
users can tchat together. Their name a preceeded by a #, and
describes their purpose, like #lobby, #computers, #music,
#urbex, #videos, etc.

To get a full list of available rooms, you can type in /list
in the tchat, or even /runcmd LIST through a raw command.
Please be aware that if the list is too long, it can make your
PDA go slow or freeze.

Once you know what room to join, please type in :

/runcmd JOIN #room

or

/join #room

In the text field at the bottom of the window. Congratulations,
you can now tchat on the IRC server. This gonna be good.

Whenever a connection problem occurs, or if the server crashed,
MonIRC can display a message inside the window, interrupting
all tchatting.

# Other available commands : #
##############################

One extra command is available and can be used once in a room :

/me $$$

Whence $$$ refers to an action that you might be doing. For
instance, if your nickname is Jacques, and that you type in
/me is eating apples, the message would appear as :

Jacques is eating apples.

I hope you have fun with my software.

###################
# Other remarks : #
###################

This software was created just for entertainment purpose, so
not all IRC features are available on this software. Plus this
version doesn't handle ciphering, so every data sent through
MonIRC will be sent as a clear data over the network, and can
be read by third-party people. There's no SSL nor TLS used.

Anyway, Monokeros hopes you will have fun using this software
coded for Windows CE 2.xx so you can use IRC networks on your
favourite PDA. Thanks for using Monokeros' products.
