Windows Vista Patches & Updates Guide

Released on 8th November 2006, Windows Vista became something of a pariah for Microsoft. Pushing harder than most of the low-end haerdware it was being shipped on could cope with. Vista gained a reputation for underwhelming performance and the creation of a first class/second class ecosystem for PC users, something that OEMs failed to appreciate and the craze for netbooks at the time would further undermine trust and interest in the release for consumers and businesses alike. Vista finally reached end of life on 11th April 2017 when extended support services were terminated by Microsoft.

In line with our security mandate, HPC:Factor has decided to generate and a patching list for Windows Vista Ultimate now that it has hit end of life. It is not deemed necessary to add an installation guide to this document, and there are no plans to add one in the future.

Windows Vista Ultimate Patches & Updates Guide

The following list of updates will provide you with the highest level of security available to Windows Vista. The Approximate size of these updates is 2.46GB for x64 and 1.7GB for x86 systems. While the guide is aimed at Windows Vista Ultimate, most if not all of the updates are directly applicable to the other edition of Windows Vista.

All but one update (2506014) is applicable for both x64 and x86 systems.

Prerequisites

This guide assumes a certain level of system components have already been updated. Failure to install these prerequisite items before continuing with the patch process will impact significantly upon the effectiveness of this guide. These are the prerequisites for the installation:
