When you attach a USB mouse to the Nexio XP30 no cursor is displayed

CESD|200144

Applies To

  • Windows CE 4.1 .net

Overview

When you attach an external USB mouse to the Samsung Nexio XP30 Tablet PC no cursor is displayed on the screen even though the system invisibly registers, and responds to mouse activity.
This article details how to enable the on-screen mouse cursor on the Nexio.

More Info

By default the Epson S1D13806 graphics controller device driver inhibits the presence of a pointer from being displayed on the XP30's screen. The display driver settings override the Windows CE 4.2 default input method to specifically allow, or disallow the presence of a cursor.

To enable the cursor to be overlaid onto the screen you must modify the Windows CE registry.

WARNING: If you use a Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to hard reset your Handheld PC back to its factory installed configuration. Edit your Windows CE registry at your own risk.
  1. Save all work and close all open applications
  2. Open up your preferred registry editor
  3. Navigate to the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Display\S1D13806
  4. Locate or create if needed a DWORD value named Cursor
  5. To enable the cursor to be drawn on the screen set the Value to 1. To disable it, set the value to 0
  6. Soft reset your Nexio
