OverviewThe Nokia driver update is provided by Nokia and via the HPC:Factor Hardware Compatibility List to allow Windows CE 2.0 users to use the Infrared port on their Cellular Phone to access the Internet. The program driver can be installed on the Handheld PC simply by using the Nokia Modem.exe file. This method of installing the driver does not provide any Uninstall method. You may need to remove the driver if you no longer use a Mobile Phone equipped with an Infrared Port or you have installed another third party IrDA driver which is conflicting with the Nokia driver. NB: If you wish to use the HPC:Factor Generic Infrared Modem driver for Windows CE 2.0 you must remove the Nokia driver SolutionIf an entry named 'Nokia Nokia IrDA Update' is not listed in Remove Programs in the control panel, or for any reason the uninstall entry fails. Use the following to remove the driver update: WARNING: If you use a Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to Hard Reset your Handheld PC. Use Registry Editing tools at your own risk.
1) Remove the Drive Configuration Executive
2) Remove the Start Menu Shortcut
3) Remove the Command File
4) Clear the registry values
Removing the IR Key if Standard deletion failsThere is a known issue with the Nokia driver. The Installer adds a corrupt set of registry values which some registry editors are unable to delete. If you find that the IR Key has not been removed when you soft reset or refresh your registry editor:
