Using Joikuspot, an ad-hoc wifi tether program for Symbian3, I am able to tether Windows CE 2.0 and 6.0 machines.
However, with my J720/J728, the Nokia shows a connection but I can not connect to internet or email. I have tried an Orinoco Gold, a Netgear MA401, a Netgear MA701, and 3Com 3CRWE62092B. I have tried using specific, matching channels in the ad-hoc setup but no go.
The Joikuspot has a default gateway of 192.168.2.1 and gives a default ip of 192.168.2.2 to the J's. If I set up a static IP on the J's, using those specs along with 192.168.2.1 as my primary DNS and the default 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask, I still can't connect, but when I tried to use internet radio/gplayer with the ip address of
http://50.77.161.149:18000, I WAS able to connect and could play MSNBC. I can not connect to
http://50.77.161.149:18000 without a static address on the J's.
In IE/Netfront, if I use numerical addresses in place of lettered website, I get a MS Info page showing my ip address to be t-mobile's
(my carrier
) numerical address.
Any other handle I can jiggle? I'd give up, but it's strange that my CE 2.0 devices and my TinyBook surf without complaint, and I very much want to get my J720 back on-line.
