| Hello. I had a 620lx, in which I tried to put in a PC Card wireless card. The result was a strange small sound, and the 620lx will now not turn on whatsoever. Is it possible that a PC card can short out the entire unit? Thank you. | |

| The sound may indicate some sort of short circuit in the board.
The easiest way is to get another one that works but without a working screen etc. and join them into one handheld.
Another more advanced is to take it apart and see the circuitry where a component is burnt etc. (slightly black).
There should be others who are more experienced in this. I only fixed a couple handhelds, but they were not short circuited.

| Get a torch and look down the slot and check that none of the pins are bent or broken | |

| Thanks for the reply. I have someone looking at it in the next week. Here's hoping he can find something. I have my 360lx but am too scared to put anything in the PC card slot, lol. | |

| Thanks for replying. I did as you suggested, and either I'm an idiot (likely), or there is nothing bent or broken. AAAgghhh, wish I knew. Having someone look at it in the next week. Fingers crossed for some good luck. | |

| I had a PCMCIA-flashcard around 1995 that ruined three devices electrically before I figured the issue. | |
