isotherm: thanks for clarifying.

Then to clarify my position: I would pay around 20 USD (at most) for a layer that would enable me to use most WM2003 apps. I don't have any moral or ethical issues regarding the fact you want to be compensated for the time and effort you spent creating this. I just think that for the sake of knowledge and to be future proof the code should be shared in some way... I'm not in a position to tell you what is best because I don't code and I don't know what you are doing but maybe you could open-source a generic version of the layer and then sell optimized binaries for different HPCs. as I said... even if I could I wouldn't waste time compiling the code for my self given the fact that I can get better results (and compensate your work) by buying the optimized binary from you.

I just wish you good work and decide what you think it is best for you.

takwu, today plugins already work on hpc2000! ask TFGBD
so there's nothing that is impossible!

Off Topic, sorry:
Cmonex, I am always surprised that you know a lot about "interesting discoveries" made by different forum members, even if they didn't mention it publicly in this forum... So, without you, we would never be informed of some important things for the community... I also don't understand why forum members don't share their knowledge themselves (if it's legal of course)...
Tell us the truth, Cmonex: Is there some kind of an HPC "secret society" where a few selected gurus keep a sacred knowledge ???

hehe isotherm told you already but it's #hpcdev at efnet irc server(s) btw i did invite you there.. it is no secret visit us once!

and yes, i'm trying to tell others about discoveries and new hacks, that's mainly what i do.. i think this is important as some people don't really bother visiting this forum or other forums regularly. for one, TFGBD prefers irc way more
iirc, you weren't a member here for a long time either, but i'm glad you are now the community really profited a lot from your work too

Here is a little story/legend I heard of
When Lu Ban was young & a skillful carpenter, He wanted to be the best.
He was seeking an opportunity to be accepted as an apprentice by a master carpenter, which was very famous nation-wide at the time (actually in a neighbor country, since China was divided as many countries then)
After passing some rigid trials, the master gave him the final test. He asked " Once upon a time, there were two
great apprentices, both worked hard through their lives, the elder one marked his name in people's heart, the younger one earned himself a gold mountain, which example would you follow?"
Ban made his choice and became the apprentice of the master.
He later invented saw, carpentry ink line, carpenter's plane, kite, ladder, and many many other useful tools and benefit the whole world.
There are people who still celebrate his birthday nowadays.
http://www.mom.gov.sg/publish/momportal/en/press_room/mom_speeches/2004/20041128-2004birthdaycelebrationofmasterbuilderluban.html
Of course, this was over 2000 years ago, maybe totally nonsense nowadays.

bump (why isn't this in site news?)

1. Did you submit it to be posted as Site news?

2. The way the poll question is asked - sounds like the software is just vaporware!

1. i didnt know submitting it was mandatory for something to get in the news. no, i'm sure that's not mandatory. actually, your second statement makes it clear this is not the main reason it isn't in the news, just an excuse
2. it is not vaporware, i've seen it with my eyes. i've also told that here several times. please read through the thread, if you're interested that's is really appreciated.

I voted $20, if this means that I can use more PPC apps properly. Ofcourse I'd want a preview of some kind.

Cheers

Some things I can't stand to see anymore. Everybody always wants somethings for nothing. If this is something that will allow me to get the most use out of this device so be it, I'll pay what ever. If some people quit pressing bricks all day and get a real job, they can afford to live a better life. And although cmonex does snob me, and doesn't give me any prop's you guys do a great job. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
