German developers SoftMaker have released a new beta version of SoftMaker Office 2006 for Windows CE.

If you own a Handheld PC or another Windows CE [core] device, you owe it to yourself to try out SoftMaker Office 2006 and see what a competent Office companion your mobile computer can be.

The new beta will operate until 31st March 2007 with SoftMaker stating that the final version of SoftMaker Office 2006 for Windows CE will be released "well before that".

You can also pre-order the 2006 SoftMaker Office Suite for Windows CE and the Handheld PC immediately from the SoftMaker website. For existing users of TextMaker 2002 and PlanMaker 2004 the upgrade price of $USD/€EUD 34.95 (£25.00 GBP, ¥5000 JPY est.). For new customers, the full version can be pre-ordered for $USD/€EUD 69.95 (£50.00 GBP, ¥10,000 JPY est.)
