Skyfox

Copied the exe and dll files to my windows folder, but the CE 3 Viewers did not work on my 720...... recieved the following error message

"Cannot load required resources from WtResources.dll. Please check to make sure the the viewer is properly installed"

What's missing?

Make sure that "WTResources.dll" is either in the app directory or the \Windows directory.

Hurricane John-

I got the same error when I first tried it and I had all the dlls in the app directory. I used executabilitychecker.exe on WTResources.dll and rewrote the version number to 3.0 (it had been 4.1). After I did that it worked fine.

One other note--I have one pdf file that the PDF Viewer won't open, but Acrobat 1.0 will. All the others I've tried open fine.

I thought it was odd that I had to do that to get it to work, but the file I downloaded was CE3_Viewers.zip It's working fine now though.

Hi Skyfox, have you had any luck at all with IE6?
I would have liked to try looking at this myself but don't have access to PB and the download link from MS has been removed

Sorry guys.. IE is too tightly integrated into the shell. It's basically impossible without upgrading the whole OS. I havn't had much joy with messenger either. Im still working on that though.

oh.. so sad news.. but i know of someone who got working IE 5.5 (from ce.net 4.1) on hpc2000. but according to him, IE had rendering problems of some kind, i don't know any more than that. so.. you could still continue as at least it is possible to run IE5.5. i can ask him how he achieved that..

??? doesn't acrobat reader handle your PDF files?
it's much faster on a jornada 720 than the pdf viewer. ok, it isn't always so. if it's a large file with many pages, then acrobat reader will be much quicker.. if it consists of only some pages then pdf viewer is better on the 720.
on ce.net? pdf viewer is definitely better (very very fast!), *IF* it is willing to open the pdf and if only standard english characters are present in it
