You may need to rebuild the battery with new cells or get one off usedhandhelds site. :-)

I got mine to wake up a little by doing this. When it got stuck at say 55% charging, id unplug it for 10secs and plug it back in. Inch by inch it got up to 100% and now the battery is working fine. So try that trick.

These are what i used to rebuild one of my packs.

https://www.fogstar.co.uk/products/molicel-m35a-18650-battery?_pos=3&_sid=e2a6464ad&_ss=r

I used this

amazon.com/Aideepen-Handheld-Adjustable-18650Battery-Stainless/dp/B0CLGF3K14?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&smid=A1VTL661FOEJB1&th=1

Took about 15 mins to take apart and rebuild the battery pack. :-)

Also the new batteries hold much more of a charge, so you will get better battery life over the stock batteries. ;-)

Do you still need a serial cable ? Someone was looking for a serial and a charger for a 680 or 690 and i cant find the post where i saw it. Anywhoo i got those 2 things if anyone needs them.

^ Awesome ! Yeah thats why i got an extra serial cable. I had one already for my 360LX. I was gonna keep it for a spare along with the AC adaptor, but the more i think about it the less i think i need them.

Do you use the method of transferring files through the CF card?

I have a SD to CF adaptor and right now im using that method with .cab files to install software, using a SD card reader. But some of the software does need to be installed thru active sync it seems. So i got a XP laptop im putting together simply to be for using Active Sync to connect my Palmtops.

And i can tell ya that a 1gb SD card works 100% with 360LX, 680e, 690 using the CF adaptor. But becareful to buy the black with white writing SD to CF adaptor if you get one. Theres a red one that is JUNK that is out there. For the same price you can get the one i have which has been problem free.

I still think its just easier to get a cheap XP machine that you just use for Active Sync with your palmtops. You can find a laptop for $30-50. But make sure you get one that comes WITH the ac adaptor. That was my only issue when i was looking for a cheap XP laptop. A lot came with no ac adaptor.

This adaptor?

Also, what is this button for?

It clicks, but nothing seem to happen if I do so. Also, the manual says that is the Dates Notification Led... But, AFAIK, there's no mention of it can be "use able" or "click able".

^ Thats for a mini SD card. I have no experience with that one.

THis is what i use and i tried 3x different adapters and this is the best one. The red one was junk and theres also a blue one that was bogus. It'd work sometimes and then itd stop and youd lose all your data. Not cool. Stick with what works ;-)

^ this is the best and most reliable ive had my hands on ;-)

If i set an alarm, i press this button to snooze it. This little button will light up and ya dont have to open and press anything on the screen. Just press the button ;-)

Im sure this has other uses, but thats what i use it for. :-)

Digigear has a new model that is blue. Dont let the other blue one fool ya.

I would order the black one, as i said i have experience with it and ive had ZERO issues with it. After having trouble with the first 2 models made by different companies, i was ecstatic to finally have a reliable working one. :-)

I think I'll go for a pack I've seen for a prize similar to that: 1GB CF and a multicard reader, 25€ total More than I need to put some games, music and programs to test.

I am gathering those programs, and this weekend I'll start messing around with the HPJ680. Just to see if I can do the process with the sync cable.

First crazy thing I'll do is test Tomb Raider Will it work? it does not require Directx, and its a DOS native program that works fine with 16GB RAM and a 90 mhz processor... IDK if the share ware version of pocketdos will let me do it. Wish me luck!!

Heres my 680e on the right and 690 on the left.

The screen on the 690 is scratched up, but when the unit is on you cant see it. Phew. But i got this 690 working with AC, serial, manual etc for $40 shipped. :-)

Also you can tell from the scratches that someone REALLY liked playing Solitare haha

Make sure you have a Windows XP or older computer for using serial cable and Active Sync. It does NOT work with newer operating systems, at least for me it hasnt and ive stayed up over night trying to get it to work on newer computers and found no solution. So dont frustrate yourself like i did. ;-)
