After a long time (8-12 month) of not using my 6651, I decide to use it again. Becouse I hadn't use it so long the battery was totaly empty, the 6651 coudn't start. I plugged the adapter into the 6651 and the lights on the 6651 went on. I turned the 6651 on and evertything was working. Only after ten minutes the 6651 went off while it was on AC! Inside the 6651 was a woring cf card and a working wlan card.
I repaced the backup batteries and plug the 6651 again onto power. Only nothing happened, no lights went on, nothing.
I placed an electrical energy meter between the 230 volt and the adapter, and the adapter used zero watts while the 6651 is attached to it...

The adapter of the 6651 has always been pluged in the 230V, even the 8-12 months that I didn't use the 6651. Could it be that the adapter has died in the couple minutes the 6651 was plugged on it??
Has anyone expirience with this problem or does anyone know what's wrong with my 6651??

a small update:

I've opened the 6651 butI can't find anyrhing what could be broken (black resistor, burnmark on a chip).

When power is connected (without batteries and memory near backup bateries)The voltage over the powerconnector is 19 volts. If i use another adapter the 6651 is stil not working, so the pronlem is in the 6651...

if i'm not mistaken, the 6651 will not work without a battery. really stupid design.

this can cause problems...?

if you had the adapter plugged in ac for a whole year, that was a foolish thing to do. even (or especially?) if it was without the 6651..

also it was a dumb thing to let the battery discharge fully for so long

i think you may need a new working battery and that could solve everything, i really hope the problem is not more serious than that.

maybe it is a stupid guess but the battery may have had a little life in it before it totally died.

Remember that when you plug in the AC cord the juice jumped up whatever life it had left up and the slowly went to sleep.

Sadly I have 4 of them here. Just need to replace the batteries .

Just to let you know opening the casing for the battery is a pain.

S/F,
CEYA!

That's discouraging to hear, cuz my 6651's battery doesn't appear to hold a charge for a particularly long time - seems like about 1 1/2 - 2 hours, though admittedly I could adjust the brightness downward a bit. (The batteries are also hard to find, though I seem to recall reading in another thread that Sharp plans to release some more into the market next month.)

where did you read it? ah that thread.. sharp promised someone to get a battery. nothing is for sure yet, but it would be really really nice...

btw with my first battery (the worse one) if i set brightness at full it will last 3 hours at most (not much wifi), but if i set it to the second or third lowest which is still quite bright (btw this machine was the brightest out of four i tried ), it's 3-4 hours with continuous wifi... (second battery is much better)

so you could try lowering the brightness, lets see if that helps.

Theo, I think you cooked the charging curcuit in the battery as well as the cells. Here's hoping sharp releases more to market and the ebay vultures don't get them all first.

Let us know if you find more than one - or a set of several for sale by one seller. I know I could use a spare, and I'm sure there are several others who can as well. (I'm searching for one as well, and will do the same - but we may be using different search filters and thus may find different listings.)

I shudder to think of the batteries in the landfill because of boobs who have no idea they could be rebuilt...Just because it's detachable doesn't mean it's disposable.
