| As for UsedHandhelds, they're just selling a WPC11. I have one and it was quite simple to set up. They are new on eBay for ~$20 - just be sure the auction states that it's v2.5 or v3. Then use the drivers and instructions shown here: CESD-H-0007 |

| the j720 has built-in drivers for the aironet 350 (i use a '350, and it is amazing); why not just get one of those? |

| TFGBD: heh, didnt know you had instructions for pocketwinc... my hack is independent, but anyway it is a simple one, just an mfc job
pocketwinc is really excellent, i recommend it all the time.
anyway, it is not enough to just rename mfcce300. you need to hexedit it. |

| ok well its not working, i'm assuming its bc i didnt install the socket driver? but i couldnt find it... i went to their site.. and such and followed that internal link.. but nothing came up..
i forgot to put whats going on... ok i did that dll stuff... much easier than i expected... moved the dll's and such.. but pocketwinc is still saying the same old.. and when i try to run nictt.exe nothing happens.. and i think maybe you think i have a cf wifi card.. i have a pcmcia card... not sure if that helps..

| J660LX, you were able to get the built-in drivers to work? I had to install the drivers at Cisco linked through the HCL. I think Clinton schooled me on that one. ;+) |

| Cmoenx did not mean it will not work. She just meant that my instructions were not so clear. Hey, I posted it before bed and I was kind of tired. I guess I was not clear, but you need to edit the call for MFCCE300.dll in the NICTT.exe file and also use a renamed MFCCE300.dll to get it working and prevent conflicts. Cmonex can explain it better if you still need some help.
The Socket driver you want is here:
http://www.socketcom.com/support/redirect.asp?URL=ftp://ftp.socketcom.com/wlan/cf/124B/WLAN_StrongARM.exe
This file is really just a Zip file. Extract it with Winzip/WinRar, etc and copy the PPC2002.ARM.cab file to your Handheld PC and just double tap it to install. Do the MFC hack and you should be up and running both with the Pocket PC driver and Pocket Winc will work too.
PS: The driver works with both the PCMCIA and CF Symbol cards.
On the Symbol download site it says:
"Supports Wireless Networker™ WLAN adapters. Models: LA-4121 PC Card Adapter; LA 4123 PCI Adapter and the CompactFlash™ Card on Windows 2000, XP and Pocket PC 2003." Edited by TFGBD 2006-10-25 5:18 PM

| i mean it is not enough to just rename mfcce300.dll, you need to edit this dll itself too, but easier to just download it from my site, arm.zip/hexedited folder has it with an edited olece300.dll |

| well i get a noise now... lol thats it... nothing opens or anything... and when i insert my card it acts like i never installed it... ok now let me make sure i'm doing this right so i'll do a step by step of what i did...
1-i installed the pocketwinc with the .cab file and moved the dll's cmonex had nicely packaged, the hexedited ones
2-installed the socket thing from the .cab, moved the proper dll's to /windows
3-did the execute program to switch mfcce300.dll to 301 that cmonex had
4-soft reboot
5-insert card it askes to name the card -_-
6-tried pocketwinc "network adapter not found blah blah"
7- tried the nictt.exe wierd swooping noise.. thats it..
what am i screwing up? |
