I am really growing to love my hpcs...and find more and more uses for them but they would become infinitely more useful if I only had to recharge them every 3 or 4 days. Aside from adding an external battery is there any option to put inside the 880 that will give it 16 or more hours per charge?

The cells are kind of rectangular, and there are 3 of them wired in series...each being 3.7V. They measure approximately 50mm long, 33mm wide, and 10mm thick. Here is a picture of them...

I was thinking of trying to build a battery pack using AAA batteries (9 total) wired in a series-parallel configuration.

One single chemical compartment....something like the Sanyo Prismatic LION cell UF103450P. I think that would be a good match...

Not worth the rebuild, not significantly greater in capacity...just something that could be used as a last resort if the BA11s were not available any longer....

One good idea is to make an external battery with rechargeable batteries AA or AAA...

What about rechargeable D cells? I see many that are 10k mamps. They are a little bigger than AA cells but you will need fewer of them.

Then again there are also some li-ion batteries for power tools that come in 9, 12 or a variety of voltages, have an acceptable case - would probably benefit with a spray of black paint and can be easily replaced.
