Nah. If I were going to get a tablet, I'd get one running XP Pro. For me, CE's main attraction isn't the small hardware footprint or the touchscreen, because I can get those anywhere nowadays -- for me, the main attraction is the instant-on feature. Anywhere, anytime, I can just open my Netbook and BOOM -- it's already waiting for me to do something with it.

Gotta admit they're cool-looking. Do they have built-in Bluetooth and WiFi? There could be a future for CE tablets if they'll work readily with Bluetooth keyboards and mice. Also could be a good tool for navigation with that decent-sized screen.

This is the exact spec.

MIU FACE 084. It runs MIPS32 core 400Mhz, and has 128MB DDR-2SDRAM, 32MB onboard Flash, and 512MB extended Flash. It also has wired LAN and Wireless LAN (b,g) and W-SIM

You can see more windows mobile devices from CEATEC at:

It's official: MIPS is back.

Well hopefully this device won't cost an ARM and a leg

Yeah, but if the CPU class is back, maybe there'll be more MIPS software development on the way. (Never hurts to dream, as long as one doesn't drool on the pillow.)

by saying mips is "officially" back, you've already managed to drool on that pillow.

I'm sorry, but MIPS is irrelevant in the consumer computer market. ARM is close to being irrelevant, but they are at least used in a lot of smartphones. If this is the first MIPS device in years, then there's no point in buying it, because there's no way this one device will drive the market.

x86 is a messy, inconsistent instruction set, but 99% of desktop and laptop computers support it, and that makes it good. MIPS is not in such a comfortable position.

Okay, so I'm still trying to teach an old dog new tricks. Hey, it can be fun sometimes.

It's great to see MIPS back, because I personally think it is quite a good processor. I do also like Xscale, but I hope MIPS gains shares on Windows CE 6.0 market.

Actually, this device is intended for shops as a "information teminal" and for advertisement.
