Hi,
I got the above mentioned card and tryied to install it in my 900c with cmonexv1.0

1. The card seems to have an Intersil PRISM chip

2.Installed drivers, that are for WM2003 or PPC2003, depending of the source. The cab installed with the warning that "not for this machine and probably will not work properly". Well do not work.
3.The card is detected and asks for driver name, copied the long name but nothing happens!!!!
4. Somewhere suggested that a cab from Samsung called CopyDriver should be installed followed by a soft reset,. Done that and nothing!!!!!still driver not recognised.
5 Tried with PRISMNDS and ISLP2 but no success!!!

6 Has anybody used this card?
7. Any ideas?
8. ExeCheck does not recognise the installed dll's. And I can see nothing else installed, but remove programs show both cabs installed.

Cheers!!!

PS: Probably wasted 10 quid, and "to be good to be true" is valid again!!!!

PS2:Can somebody send me the Planex 54G drivers? I think is a Prism also?

Hi,

I hate to waste money so:

1. Removed the installation of both cabs.
2. Reinstalled both cabs in /windows paying more attention on what was happening:
- Both cabs installed the SAME swld26c.dll
- The suposed driver also installed something called "Samsung Electro-mechanics SAMSUNG WLAN 11g CF adapter, ending with a .UNLOAD
- The CopyDriver cab installed a file called Intermec Technologies CE Toolkit.unload.

3. When I run ExecCheck on the installed swld26c.dll and the 900c freezes(tried several times) and a soft reset is requiered.

Any comments

Cheers!!!

the .unload is fine, that is for the remove apps program in control panel.

so you copied swld26c.dll out of \windows?

but anyway if the driver only consists of a dll, there is not much to hack on it really. it means it has no gui config app (relies in wzc, i'd assume), and with drivers,it is usually only the gui you need to get working..

i think (IIRC) my problem was that the pokcetpc driver didnt work even on wm2003. just ppc2002.

p.s.: if you could upload the driver cabs i'd check them out just in case..

Okay, here is the news...I got my Magiclan card today. Put it in, tried the first driver I found nothing. Then I downloaded and install this driver: http://members.fatalpunishers.com/Bartek/SamsungCopyDriver.CAB

Put the card in and when it asked for the driver name, entered swld26c and it lit up. I was able to connect fine to my home network, but the signal was very low.

So I then set my wireless router (Netgear) to be in G mode only. I also took a piece of solder, about 24 inches long and connected to the center conductor of the ANT2 connector on the wifi card. The signal went from poor to very good and I was connected to my home network in G mode. And it was significantly faster in downloading web pages than previously. Still need to experiment some, but wow....this looks promising...

BTW, got the card in auction 160167705188 on eBay for $23. Take a look at it and you can see the two antenna connectors I am talking about.

Pulled the antenna off an old cardbus card and soldered it onto the MagicLan...works great. Now I don't have to hold a piece of solder for an antenna...

Still testing though...
