While I am not currently in possession of the full set of facts on what has happened, we'll have to wait for some smoke signals from Insurgent on that one. I can tell you that it has been an infrastructure problem, none of our servers have had any glitches over the last 14 hours of so.

I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused. While we do try our utmost to keep everything on your screens, from time to time there are eventualities that cause us problems which we have no control over.

Seems like it happened multiple times? This was the case here in Tokyo. Maybe too much server load?

Apologies. Just when you think things are running fairly smoothly...
The downtime this weekend was from a tripped electrical breaker at night, UPS battery time exceeded and PCSMail letting me know about it not getting through.
Turns out someone had inadvertently plugged in a heavy duty air compressor onto the same circuit. When it switched on to recharge it's tank, it blew the circuit which was only 10 amps.
It's always something!

Someone get Cmonex a valium! ;p

So do you run HPC:Factor in a homemade server?

HPC:Factor is self hosted in the server farm for which Mr. Insurgent is chief geek.

It isn't home made as such; it isn't made out of bits of old drift wood and some old roofing material

Maybe i'm being ignorant, but why would someone use a heavy weight and electrically noisy device like an air compressor in a data centre? What possible use could it serve?

And i thought it was IIS, ASP, and SQL Server to blame

That's a fantastically good question and one answer worthy of a court martial.
