| Kuba, mate,
glad to hear it's working for some at least. Now, can you give me the details of how you installed it. And what rev. is it. And how do I find the firmware number? I'd appreciate any help.

It's V 2.5 and, as far as I can remember (it was a year ago ), there was nothing special in installing it. I do recall that I had to try few driver versions to make it work properly (but I think that it was something to do with WPA not working under the AEGIS client ). Just try to install drivers from July 2003 (Filename: EagleTec_PRISM400.2577 ). Firmware version is on the 'About' tab in PRISM's control panel applet.

Also, is there anyone ot there with a MA401 that is working under windows CE?
Yes, me . It works PERFECTLY in my TSinus Pad (on CE.NET 4.1 ) along with AEGIS Client, bringing WPA to my device! It uses PRISM reference driver version 3.00.08.0236 (Jul 17 2003 ) and its firmware version is 1.08.00.00.

Check your mail for instructions (just in case somone is interested - there is no warez site or p2p address in my instructions. The link is official, but I just simply don't know the legal status of this software so I can't publish download details ).

thanks, got the email.. disregard my silly questions, i'm quite tired right now and wasn't reading the instructions right. but it still seems to be for cenet 4.2, did it require any hacks?

i have never seen the MA401 in real life..
but anyway, you say with the rom v2.0 driver, it doesn't find a network.. do you have any security on your router?

| To be honest, I have no idea. But when I put the card in my laptop, it picks up my home network, and all the neighbours' networks too. |
|
|
|
| The MA401 that I'm having trouble with is marked "v2.5" but I don't see a rev number on it. |
|
|
|
| It should say on the back, at the very top. In small letters. After "802.11b Wireless PC card 16-bit PCMCIA MA401" mine says Rev.D |

I don't remember (it's in my AS backup file now, so in case of emergency, I just restore it from there ) but I don't think so (perhaps simplest version change with EC ).
It's VERY stable and works without any problems for almost year with WPA PSK+TKIP and Planet's WAP-4033 AP.

P.S.
1. See the original thread.
2. WPA doesn't work with my other WiFi card Orinoco Gold (2wire brand ) Edited by KF2007 2008-01-06 1:03 PM

| An outrageous suggestion for those reading this thread who have not purchased a card yet. I guess the radical
thing to do is get the HPC Factor list of cards known to work and the driver. Make certain the card is 16bit as these backward tech, niche units cannot use the typical card you find cheap, on special, in stores.
Of course, I admit I take a strictly practical approach to computing. The report that the average computer
users invests about 80% of their time getting the *&% to do what they want and 20% on productivity. Being
a hard head, I shoot for the reverse: 80% use & 20$ max on tinkering. Like 95% of people who own a computer
my hobbies and profession are in now way related to computers. The criters are mechanical slaves to me.
Thus, my "keep it simple, stupid" approach to the 8 computers I own and USE.

Well Bruised, your outrageous suggestion to check the HCL before buying the card proved useless in this case. MA401 is on the list as compatibe.
WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE IT OFF THE LIST?
