| Hi -
Can anyone help me connect to my sony ericcson T610 - to send / receive sms and then to use it as an IR modem, either gprs or gsm, to access my mail. I know I can get a bluetooth card if all else fails (I had my palm T3 bluetoothed to it, but it finally bled to death) but I'd prefer to IR if at all possible. I have Trio phone manager and easysms on board, but they can only download and upload contacts.
Used to have a couple of NEC HPC's back in the day - now I've gone "old skool" again thanks to the Dutch Railways bonanza. Have got the machine de-torx-ed and software patched and updated. Much enjoying it - hated the palm.
Thanks in advance.
ps - have GPRS cab but not sure where it goes on HPC |

| Ok, Cabs are installer files so just double click on them.

| hi,
try mobem mphone for sms messaging. it's great. if it works on ce 2.11. (? )
but you should be able to send sms with easysms too! trio phonemanager sucks.. (sorry )
ir modem should be no problem at all. if it's a gprs connection, you type the APN in your phone then just create a new connection in remote networking on the hpc. select infra for modem and dialled number is *99***1# or *99#. that's all with ericsson phones.
i don't know anything about gsm as gprs is much cheaper here so i prefer it over gsm.
if you can connect but can't do anything then, can't browse, can't receive/send email, then download ispfix here: http://www.yetanotherhomepage.com/j7xx/files/ispfix.zip (install it then softreset. ) Edited by cmonex 2005-04-30 5:53 PM

| Dial-Up I think, Direct is for HPC to your PC connections

| Thanks - got it working now on broswer - for some reason my APN is "pp.vodafone.co.uk" in stead of "internet" - possibly because I have a pay as you go SIM - and that was stumping me.
For some reason I cannot connect to my email mailbox yet. As I recall the username had to have the "...@email.address" at the end. Is that true ? What stupid mistakes might I be making ?

no, you usually don't need that part. but sometimes you do need it.. try it without that and with that too. and don't forget the pop3 (imap? ) and smtp server. |
