| Hello,
Everybody knows gmail and IMAP, this is for the emails. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Message_Access_Protocol
One has a good steps to achieve it to be working from first the gmail account side and the jornada 720 side, wince 3.0 ? If there is screenshot, that would be even better for persons that are not used with computers.
Thank you if already it exists this howto and good evening all !

| gmail is secure mail so I suggest you will need qmail3, ssl (download from qmail site) and security certs.

| Yeah, you need those security certificates but where can you get them? Once you have them you combine them into a file of PEM-Format and save them in "<your mail folder>\ca.pem"
That's for the theory, I don't know where to download the certificates or how to convert them to PEM. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

| So did anybody get GMail and QMail to like each other? I still get that "Failed to initialize SSL"-error. (I'm trying to access it via POP3 but it should be the same for IMAP ). Whatever, I think I made some progress, though:
snak said that you need the root certificates in PEM-format and you have to put them in <your mail folder>\security\ca.pem
I read somewhere that you need the ThawteServerCA for GMail. You can get that certificate here:
http://bronski.net/data/thawteserverca.pem
http://terrencemiao.com/Webmail/msg00907.html
I did what snak told me but it didn't work for me so far. |

bam. Correct ca.pem file. GMail works with this (send & receive ).
Howto (for POP3-access, I bet it's similar for IMAP ):
- Put the file posted above into <your mail folder>\security- POP3-Server for GMAIL: pop.gmail.com
Port: 995
SSL-Type: SSL
- SMTP-Server: smtp.gmail.com
Port 587
SSL-Type: STARTTLS
- authenticate outgoing mail: yes
All credits go to snak for posting that file. |

It sounds great really what you posted !
btw, I still have to find this qmail3, if in any cases you know where you could download it.
I wish you lot of success with the Gmail embedded in Jornada 720 !

You can choose where it should be located. You can put your mail folder anywhere on your device. |
