| Make a 16mb fat16 partition on your CF, and an ext2 one with the rest of the space. Then download "Bootloader for Jornada 710/720/728 - (j)linexec.exe", "Bootloader Configuration for Jornada 7xx - params.txt" and "Kernel for Jornada 7xx - 2.6.19-rc6 - hp7xx-2.6.19-rc6 (rename this one to zImage on the CF)" and extract them to the fat16 partition. After that, download "Mongo IceWM Userland - 2008-04-13" and extract it to the ext2 partition. Eject your CF and put it in your jornada. Go in Explorer, Storage Card, double click on jlinexec.exe |

| With no card reader you are out of luck. They are cheap at walmart. 7-10 dollars.

| Hello everyone!
I got an HP jornada 720 one week ago, now I finaly have a card reader and a 4gb compact flash, it seems easy to install JLIME on it but I have a problem to format the card
I do it on Ubuntu 8.04 with gparted with a partition table msdos, I'm creating 2 primary partitions fat16 and ext2, and then I got the ext 2 ^partition with a locket folder "lost and found", and I can't copy anything in it...
what can I do?
Thanks a lot. |

I had the same problem.
Sign up as "root".
Then you can delete the folder "Lost + Found" and copy the files. |

|
| The 'lost & found' directory exist on every partition created in Linux.
It is used for 'orphaned' files. When the filesystem check it's integrity, and find 'lost' clusters, it creates files with these clusters and put them in 'lost & found', so root can check if some important stuff can be recovered. It is similar as the old MS-DOS check.00x files after a chkdsk /f command.
The directory itself does not need to be removed, in fact it is important to have one on every partition. Else it could happen that chkfs can't store 'orphaned' clusters, and thus perhaps make real mess in your filesystem structure. |

| After almost 7000 posts in the other forums, here's my first post in the Linux forum.
What happened to the ActiveSync JLime installer that chazco was working on three years ago? It'd be really nice if we could get past the headaches of partitioning the CF card. |

| the method shown by HellDragon, does it let you run both Linux and WinCE on the same machine? |

| Yes and no. Yes in the fact that linux is installed to and run from the CF card. No being that after booting linux it basically hard resets your device. While CE is still in rom, it wipes the memory clean and you'll have to restore from a backup or just deal with the stock CE installation.
Cheers. |
