Calibration or Screen Response on HP720

After several months of quietly going about its business, the screen is way out of calibration OR it doesn't respond at all.
I have done a hard reset (removed batteries etc) and after only a couple of hours of use, the HP720 is slipping into no response, sometimes responding with high screen pressure or mis-responsing with wrong activation.
Is my device bonkers forever? And if so, can a repair outfit like http://www.usedhandhelds.com/
fix it?

Sounds like a screen cable connector problem to me.
