Hello,
as usual, we at jlime.com always try to improve our distro with new stuff and ideas.

There is a new gui to test on 6xx Jornadas, so first, check like it looks ;-) :

With this new idea all the applications run full screen (no borders, no window decorations: our screens are small for those) and you can use keyboard shortcuts and/or touchscreen for all actions.
Other goals are to be lighter and faster and you will note that there is sound as well.

If you want to try out you can find all the new stuff at this New Jlime GUI web page
(with a youtube video too!)

If you have ideas, suggestions or questions please post at : this jlime post
Have fun

Seems really cool, I'm getting a J720 again, so I hope Jlime will be usable with this soon.

Update:
- we have put all the files of Jlime Winter for HP Palmtop 620lx / 660lx machines as well.
So now 620 / 660 users can test the new GUI.

http://fz.hobby-site.org/hp660lx/jlime-winter/

- Also there are new extra users' themes which you can download if you want to change the look.

Enjoy

If only the screen could display such beautiful images. Nice idea; this is similar to what distros such as ubuntu netbook remix are doing for netbooks. Who needs a taskbar?

Sorry, I don't understand you completely. Why do you say "If only the screen could display such beautiful images"?. What do you mean?. The idea is already developed and functional ;-)

I assume he's thinking of the 256-color screen of the 620LX/660LX/Jornada 680.

Check the video on Jlime Winter web site and you will see that the GUI looks like the screenshots ;-)

I have it on one of my 620LXs now (thanx again Jake for your help ), and it doesn't look quite as rich as the image above, but it does look nice nonetheless.

Now a stupid question: how do you close the "Files" application? There's no Exit command in the menus, and I couldn't find a key combo to do it.

they really need to start working on one for the Jornada 820 because the internet browser is horrible on the jornada operating system!
