Hello everyone and welcome back. As I am sure you noticed, things went a little ary this last week.

The short version of the sorry tale is that the database server was updated, the process went wrong and despite Insurgents best efforts, it just wasn't to be.

We haven't lost any data (apart from anyone unfortunate enough to be trying to commit to the system at the time) with this this outage and here we are back up and running on a "new" virtualised database server.

I've also taken the opportunity to move us from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 and yes, I have fixed the FTC problem so when I have a little time to put into it should now be able to sort out the forum search!

Anyway, we are back on your screens now
Apologies for any inconvenience.

OK, I can get rid of the cigarettes, bubblegum, and booze and resume my normal addiction to things HPC...

Thanks for all the hard work.

Why do I suddenly feel like what I imagine a crack dealer feels like?

More to the point, hark, the forum search is working again and page generation times are lower.

The FTC (text indexing) catalogues were unable to build on the last database server due to a configuration requirement at install. We couldn't re-initialise them without upsetting everything and reinstalling.

Well, seeing that we had to install anyway we tried to configure the SQL 2000 SP4 to run, and guess what, it wouldn't initialise. It completely blinked out and after 3 reinstalls I got fedup, didn't have any more time so went and got SQL 2005 > which I paid for!! <

It now works.
