Just realizing that the battery is very weak in my NBP. After graduately going down to 44% it went to 19% in a matter of minutes. Great! I expected to get at least 5-6 hours but got measly 3 hours instead.. yes, I'm a little bit upset over the whole matter.. the batteries and everything else

sounds like it needs calibration, after HR the netbook pro needs to do that.

Thanks to the efforts of Half-Saint and c:amie, revision 309 of the Psion Netbook Pro rom image is now available for download on this site. This seems to be the latest image from Psion which does not have the annoying sound bug. It has previously been difficult to come by: Psion do not have it on their site for download.

I downgraded my NBP from the 404 (=k295q) image to 309 (=J124p) with no problems, simply following the installation instructions included with the package. The differences between the 309 and 404 CE images are significant, but none are very important to me.

It may be worth pointing out that it is possible to downgrade the Windows CE image to 309, but retain the latest Bootloader and PCon supplied with the 404 image. If you are working with a NBP which has already been upgraded to 404, simply delete the nbkproPC.img and nbkproBT.img from the CF card you are using to reflash the ROM with 309.

I now have a NBP with version 309 of the CE image, and the versions of BooSt and PCon included with the 404 package. In truth, the advantages of these later versions are trivial, but it’s always nice to have the latest where possible.

Is there a changelog anywhere of the changes made between 309 and 404?

It's listed under Service Packs.

Looking into the Service Packs section, there is also a file for updating the NBP's Pocket On-Schedule app to version 6.2.1. This update asks for an installation password. Anyone know the password for this update?

I'm not sure why there's a password. I actually installed the update with no problem, however I just extracted the CABs from the installer (like I usually do) and used those to install on my NBP.

Thank You for doing the actual work ie. downgrade! Now we know that 309 in fact resolves the sound bug :-)

Cheers!
