Hay,

Just got a J720 HPC2000 with a Cisco Aironet 350 WiFi adapter

I have installed the cisco drivers but they only provide a manual proxy config and I want something that will find a connection for me.

I have tryed Mini Stumbler but it doesnt seem to recognise the presence of the WiFi card

I have also tryed to install PocketWINc
when I installed it it said it was not made for this version or something to that effect
So when i try to use it I get the error message:

Cannot find PocketWINc (or one of its components). Make sure the
path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are
available.

I tryed installing it to program files and to storage card but no difference.

Anyone know of a compatible scanner for this card and system

Thanks and happy hacking.

oh the initial conflict with PocketWinc is the file supplied from http://pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1052
pocket PC 2002 version which from a previous post is suggested to work on HPC 2000

the error I get is:
Cirond pocketWiNc does not support the connected device type.

cmonex has the H/PC 2000 version, which needs no extra DLLs:

http://www.hpcmonex.net/izemize.htm

It's about two-thirds of the way down the page.

Installed that and shifted the DLL files into the PocketWINc folder.

but when I run it i get the error message

pocketWiNc
unable to locate adapter. this application will be closed.

The adapter is my Cisco 350 and all the lights are flashing away so im assuming its connected.
I installed the cisco drivers so there should be no prob there.

Don't use the DLLs you used with the Pocket PC version - the DLLs you need for the H/PC version should be in ROM already.

I removed the DLL files from the PocketWiNc folder and it gave me the original error message:

Cannot find PocketWINc (or one of its components). Make sure the
path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are
available.

and would not open the application at all again.

I assume this means I need the DLL files in place

I futher assume it means the problem is with my adapter and how my device recognises it due to the unable to locate addapter message.

Are you sure you uninstalled the Pocket PC version before installing the H/PC version?

Yeah I uninstalled the version on the device from previous then rebooted the system.

downloaded PocketWiNc from cmonex' s site(http://www.hpcmonex.net/izemize.htm), which was labeled as:

pocketwinc (free version only - the nicest wifi scanner for hpc2000)

File name: pwincfree.zip

Contents of zip:

DLL files: aygshell.dll, Doclist.dll, iphlpapi.dll, mfcce301.dll, olece300.dll

Cab file: hexCirond pocketWiNc.PPC202_StrongARM.CAB

I then installed this and moved the DLL files to the install directory which was StorageCard/PocketWiNc

the programme opens no problem there, but it does not recognise the addapter.

Is this actually a HPC2000 aplication? the "PPC202" bit in the Cab file gives me doubt. if not anyone know where there is a HPC 2000 version as this is the only version on cemonex's site.

Thanks

If all those DLLs are included, then that IS a Pocket PC version, so my mistake.

I haven't used any standalone WiFi scanners, since I usually use Agere-based cards, and the Agere client utility includes a WiFi scanner. Maybe cmonex can shed some light when she comes around here again.

Check the firmware version of your wireless card. In order for monitor mode to work correctly ( according to google ) you need to update to version 4.25.30. Then again maybe the wince driver just lacks support for that. These cards do work in monitor mode under linux on jornada, so thats a possibility.

Cheers.
