Jornada 720 ActiveSync internet connection

Hi,

I haven't used my Jornada 720 for over a year. After restoring from a backup, I successfully established partnership with a new WinXP laptop via ActiveSync over USB/docking and successfully synced the Outlook/PIM data. But I can't seem to connect to the internet from the Jornada.

Internet Explorer errors with "A connection with the server could not be established" when attempting to go to a web page. An RSS reader app (Qmail3) also couldn't connect.

I have tried ActiveSync 4.5 and 3.8; same issue.

IE Internet Options have both "Use Auto Dial" and "Use Proxy Server" unchecked.

(Through the same WinXP laptop, I previously had a Windows Mobile 6 phone synced and successfully connected to the internet also via ActiveSync and USB and IR. Now that the phone is broken, I can't re-verify this.)

Is there something obvious that I'm forgetting? Thanks in advance for any help.

HPC2000 doesn't support AS passthrough. There is a CESD in support which discusses how to use a proxy server to get it to work through the cradle.
