I got my Mobilepro 900c and will be soon attempting to upgrade to cmonex's V2.0 rom. However, all I've got is an 8GB CF card to do it with. Both XP and Vista will not allow this card to be formatted with anything less than FAT32.

Will this format work with the rom upgrade? Or do I have to find a smaller CF card?

Thanks.

Why are you wanting to format it FAT16? FAT32 should work fine.

FAT16 is necessary for the bootloader/firmware/OS upgrade. A 32 MB card should be fine for this purpose, and you should be able to find lots of those for just a few bucks on eBay and other places.

You can format it using MP's storage manager (but don't use QUICK format).

The 900c's storage manager will not format the 8GB card. It just displays "Unable to format". Cmonex's website specifically calls for the format to be in the FAT16 structure for her rom upgrades.

Thank you cmonex. I forgot that FAT16 goes up to 1GB, after that, FAT32 is used on the larger cards. I will have to get a 1GB or smaller card.
