I was curious what was the story with Mobilon 4500/4600 processor. It has MIPS R4000 (Philips PR31700) processor rated at 73.7 Mhz. The same processor had Compaq C-Series and Philips Velo 500 but there processor was rated at 75 Mhz.

I have read long time ago that initially Sharp gave in their specifications 75 Mhz as well but third party research found that actually it was 73.7 Mhz only.

Or may be real story is different...

It's not just the device that may alter the speed of the processor, memory might affect it too.

c-series is very slow...one of the slowest. try a nec 750c 80mhz NEC cpu, but loads faster. fastest CE 2.0

the mobilon 4500 i have is ok-ish though, better than c-series

Happy New Year,

I am not comparing speed of any devices, just was looking for reasonable explanation why 75 MHz processor was rated at 73.7 MHz in Mobilon. However, there are many additional factors which impact overall device speed.
