Great - another overpriced stand alone eBook reader, which will join Amazon's Kindle and Sony's (????) in the clearance bin a year from now!!

The selling price on these this gadgets should be about $99 (USD)....anything more is just silly!

BTW - Can you just see the reincarnation of

"Handheld PC/Pocket PC/Windows Mobile/Smartphone/iPod/eBook Reader Magazine"

Ding ! - I think we have a winner this time.

The Kindle isn't in the clearance bin, it's sold out till February. I'm a bit biased I guess. I've had my Kindle for a year now and think it's a great device. It's *so* nice for reading, I love it.

I'm complaining about the price, not the device itself!

I've tried the Sony book reader and it's really cool, but the price is just crazy.....I mean it's just an ebook reader!

My impression is that not very many kindles have been sold (~350k??) for the length of time it has been released. This would seem to suggest a possible parts supply limitation, maybe the screen, a later version of which will apparently be used by the Foxit eSlick, among others.

The main flaw with the kindle is the lack of any useful pdf capability. The Foxit eSlick has the oppposite problem, but the market may well be split between people who want free pdf's and those who want the latest expensive popular releases.

Maybe the next version will change its name slightly - to Kindling.

I had never even thought about buying a stand alone ebook reader... Why does a product like that cost so much?

You can get a pretty nice Motion Tablet for around the same price of some of the ebook readers I just saw on google or ebay.

It costs a lot because the screen is expensive.
