What happens if you try moving the shortcuts (you mentioned) from the Programs folder to the Desktop folder?

Done as asked but problem persists.

Strange - It would appear that your no brand name PNA does not recognize the .lnk format......how else would you explain that it does not show up in the Windows Menu?

Are there any other short cuts in your Windows Program folder that show up in your Windows Menu and what format are they?

As I have said, there are only Media Player.link and Windows Explorer.lnk in \Windows\Programs. I can also confirm that I have no such problem in the past. I really don't know what I have done to cause the problem.

Sounds like one or more system files have somehow been corrupted. In that case, a hard reset is the only solution. Can you give us any identifying information about the device, so we can determine if it is one that others here are familiar with?

It sounds to me like you somehow changed the default shell paths in the registry. Did you say the shortcuts were appearing correctly when you first purchased the device? It's possible some unlock package or something you installed modified them if you don't remember doing it yourself. Grab a registry editor, navigate to HKLM\System\Explorer\Shell Folders and either edit the paths to point back to \Windows or copy the shortcuts in \Windows to the path currently configured in the registry. A reboot should not be needed.

Note: If your device were running Windows CE 4.2, this would be in HKLM\Explorer instead. Also, shell versions before 4.2 did not support modification of paths via the registry. (just thought I'd mention that)

Hope this was helpful.

Thank TFGBD for his kindness and advice.

I can only report back later because my CE5 PNA has been lent to my relative for 3 weeks use.

Thank you very much, TFGBD. You are great. I followed your advice and corrected all relevent registry entries back to windows. The windows explorer shortcut now appears in Start/Programs.

May I ask your help for solving the following problem on my another GPS running on CE5?

Call \windows\explorer.exe. Windows Explorer appears but Start Button and Taskbar flash once and then disappear. Call \windows\explorer.exe again but nothing happens. Have to Kill \windows\explorer.exe via taskmanager and call it again so that Start Button and Taskbar can stay appearing.
