Almost everytime I switch my Ericsson on now, no programs are running, it switches itself off and when I switch it back on it boots up in reset mode ... it shows the Ericsson logo on the screen, some codes in the corner and the startup sound. Any ideas what might be the case? It started doing it a few days ago since I got an MP3 player working (Utopiasoft Hum 1.62).

Perform a hard reset and see if the problem goes away. If it does, reinstall Hum and see if the problem replicates again.

I assume you've tried new alkaline AA batteries, Paspie.

Well if anyone is reading this 15 years later, the MC16 has a coin cell (CR 2032) which is required to keep the state when the main AA's are low/removed.

The behaviour you are describing is the same as with mine – check your volatile-memory cell under the square-door and check for corrosion on the battery terminals. Mine used to switch off when the batteries got jiggled into an unfortunate position and failed to make contact.

The last thing I need is necroposts bumping my childhood-era threads. -_-
