Last night I spent almost an hour trying to sync the NBP with my laptop and failed. I tried going to Communications menu and using 'direct'. I get a dialog saying Connectiong to host which disappears after a few seconds and nothing happens. I'm using ActiveSync 3.8 and I can sync with J728 no problem. Any ideas?

Cheers

Have you synched the NB Pro successfully with the PC before? Also, what connection type is currently selected in "PC Connection" in the NB Pro's Control Panel?

No, I haven't synced the NBP yet at all. I simply used the Ethernet card to transfer files. Last night I wanted to install drivers for Avaya Gold and wanted to do it through ActiveSync. Anyway, "PC Connection" is setup for IR and the checkbox is checked.

Can you communicate between the NBP and the 728? That will tell you if you have a IR lamp problem.

OK, figured it out. In the Control Panel there's an Irda Switch option. After I enabled the checkbox 'Enable Irda Switch transmit data polarity', I was able to sync no problem.
