Anyone give it a shot? I play a huge variety of NES games on my Zire 71 and that's one of it's primary functions I use it for daily... could a little SH-3 handle NES emulation?

Thanks

Depends on the clock speed. If it's a 44MHz 320LX then no.

Well that's why the title was called "MorphGear on the Jornada 680/MP780?"

I don't know if MorphGear was ever compiled for anything other than ARM. The Jornada 680 has an SH3 processor, and the MP780 has a MIPS. So neither can use an ARM compilation.

For NES emulation, you can try YameCE. It is compiled for all three processor types. I have tried it on StrongARM 206 MHz and MIPS 150 MHz devices before, both handled it adequately with some frameskipping. I never had an SH3 tho.

However I must warn you that both the Jornada and MP have less than ideal refresh rate on the display, so expect a lot of image ghosting; i.e. Mario would be a bit hard to see when in action

yes, for example on the above link:

"MorphGear for Pocket PC devices including the Compaq iPAQ, Dell Axim, HP Jornada 548/568, and Casio EM-500/E-125/E-115."

SH3 & MIPS also then.. (jornada 548 is SH3, and the casio ppcs are MIPS)

if you're lucky then the hpc build isn't ARM only either
