How to install an EXE file (program) without Windows?

There is many softwares that requires windows to do the installation on the jornada 720.
Is there a trick to do it without windows xp? How to install an EXE file (program) without Windows?

There's no way to run (or extract files from) the desktop installer program on the Windows CE device. You can run the installer on the PC without the device connected, just to create the CAB files so you can copy the proper CAB file to the device and execute it there.

Patrick, many of the .exe files are really just self extracting zip files. Try changing the file extension on your desktop from .exe to .zip and then see if you can open the zip file to find the proper .cab file.

But CEGeek is correct. Run the .exe file and then look in the c:\program files\microsoft activesync folder and see if you can find the application.

Exe may be not only ZIP self-extractors, also RAR, 7z and others.
Also some exes contain cab as a resource. Open an exe in peinfo, open Resource Browser, then search for a MSCF file in the list. If there's any, highlight it and click save icon, then enter the full save path in the HUGE text box and click "Save". Some cabs can't be saved, so you need to cut them manually, but you will need to learn PE (portable executable, exe&dll) structure and use a YyyBin on Jornada (hex editor with ability to change size of file).
