| I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a C++ only compiler; it needs to compile C too. I would really recommend getting a cheap CompactFlash card for your device to expand the storage. If you're in the U.S., you can get a 1GB+ CF for less than $10, or even free. I don't know about costs in other locations. |

| Well, I know it has backward C compatability no matter what. I just don't need and java or anything likethat. And I haven't even heard of G++ before. |

| PocketGCC is just C/C++; there is no Java or anything else included. It does have all the include files and libraries that you need for development, so that is part of why it is so large. But there are some libraries you could delete to save space, since they're for PocketPC development.
GCC/G++ is part of the free and open source toolchain used particularly in Linux distributions. This author has ported it for Windows CE devices. I never do extensive development on device, but it has come through for me when I wanted to test things quickly. |

| Oh, okay. Do you recommend a specific version number? |

| I think there is only one download available on the Pocket GCC page that I linked to. I recommend that one. The filename is pgcc-native.zip. |

| There appears to be a problem with the download links at that site. Do you know of an alternatvie download link? I searched google, but came up blank. |

| It should work on any ARM device, at least CE 3.0. |

if you get this after hard reset too, your ROM is corrupt (I have seen this before )
if you do get it after HR tell me what's the firmware version in NEC firmware info applet in control panel?
no worries though...easy to fix this sort of problem- but try a HR (hard reset ) first. Edited by cmonex 2009-04-28 11:17 PM

| Dang, wish it didn't require a hard reset, but okay. |

| Not to worry - hard reset isn't necessary. You probably installed the CMD cab and the PocketConsole CAB. Those are for Pocket PC only, which have no command prompt built in. Uninstall them and soft reset, and the problem should go away.
