| Ok so far i havent had much time to fiddle, but i did get it to activesync with 3.8 and though i cant find a onboard reg editor that will install, i found a program online that others probily know about, which solves that problem http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/index.php?lang=en..
more to come |

| Anyone know how to edit the reg to store information set in the control panel , like owner, device name etc.. seems to go back to default after reboot. |

| What is the type of root filesystem? RAM or flash based? Is it wiped after reboot too? |

I used TRE or one of the other old CE regedit applications. I pretty much had to extract everything (using MSCEInf ) to the external storage to get it to work, since CAB installing failed every time that I can remember.

Yep, I noticed this too, which was kind of sad to see. I had been hoping there was a persistent registry too. |

I'm not sure to be honest, my guess is it gets stored on the 4gb of nand, seems the 128mb ram is used for system from what i can tell, but i could be totally wrong as i dont know much how these newer windows ce systems work.
I know to upgrade the firmware you drag a .hex file onto the systems root and reboot.

My guess is there is still a way around things, just far past what i know how to do. |

| Well, if the registry is hive based (as in most of PPCs now) than it can be possible to move it to flash storage. Search for .hv files with TotalCommander. If you find any in some folder like "Documents and settings" your registry is hive based. |

| You may just copy the executables. |

| No luck with tc, it's been a wile since i fiddled with cabs or ce in general so im going to have to refresh myself on hacking.
Placing peices of a cab file i dont remember ever doing, so need to learn a bout that.
Surprisingly enough though it actually synced with the built in sync center in windows 7
Still need to look for those .hv files

| It means that your registry is RAM based and you can change it only with editing the ROM. You know whom to ask to try that... |
