I tried the Neta 980
(StrongARM 206MHz
) with VNC using a 802.11b PCMCIA card today for the heck of it. I tried each of the clients listed in the post I made above plus one more. These are the results:
1. The utah page - This one did not execute on my Neta
2. The dotnet one - This did not execute on my Neta. I installed the CEF from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?FamilyID=a5a02311-194b-4c00-b445-f92bec03032f&displaylang=en
Title was .NET Compact Framework 1.0 SP3 Redistributable.
It warned about might not be supported, but I thought it worth a shot and told it to go on.
I was able to connect VNC and it was semi-ok. I had to set the task bar to autohide in order to see the bottom horizontal scrollbar.
3. I tried it directly from the Internet Explorer
(to port 5800
)
I was able to connect VNC and it was surprisingly better than the dot net client. I guess Java is better than dot net for execution speed? Also here I had to set the task bar to autohide in order to see the bottom horizontal scrollbar. I have the VNC source code, so I may try the native C build on WinCE. Hopefully the code I have is mature enough to understand how to talk to a v4 server. Also this project is in line with another half dozen half finished projects, so please no breath holding!!!
